On AAP’s sixth foundation day
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi had done more in 3.5 years than Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s had in 12 years when he was Chief Minister of Gujarat, AAP national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Monday.
Addressing party workers on the sixth foundation day of the AAP, Mr. Kejriwal said Mr. Modi used to tout the “Gujarat model” of development before becoming Prime Minister.
“I challenge Modiji to compare the schools in Delhi and Gujarat. Or Gujarat’s electricity situation and Delhi’s. Or the roads and sewers in Gujarat and in Delhi. Then he can decide whether the Gujarat model or the Delhi model is better,” Mr. Kejriwal said.
Hitting out at the Centre over recent allegations of corruption, Mr. Kejriwal said the people of Delhi were proud to have an “honest” Chief Minister, but asked whether they could say the same about the Prime Minister. Mr. Kejriwal alleged corruption in the Rafale aircraft deal as well as in the fleeing of defaulters like Vijay Mallya and Nirav Modi.
