Centre forms Ajmer dargah panel, appoints 9 members
AJMER: Union ministry of affairs on Wednesday constituted the dargah committee of Ajmer and appointed nine members from different parts of the country in which three are from Rajasthan. The committee members will now elect chairman and vice-chairman of the committee.

hul Islam Shah from Mumbai, Qasim Malik from New Delhi, and Atif Rasheed from New Delhi.

These members will join the office and soon they will have elections in which they will elect chairman and vice-chairman of the committee within the committee. The Nazim, CEO of the committee is the manager who implements the decision of the committee. The union minister of minority affairs is also looking for a new Nazim who is appointed on deputation or a retired official in different departments.

The dargah committee is responsible for the management of dargah premises except the main crypt of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti. The committee will also look after the security measures of the dargah and the main emphasis are on facilities provided to devotees coming here.

The previous committee was appointed by the UPA government for the period of five years and their tenure was over on April 12 this year. This new committee will also work for next five years. Members of the committee are important because they work of the development of the dargah and welfare of devotees as there are issues like issuing licence and identity cards to khadims (priests) removing encroachment from dargah premises as well as from the properties of dargah committee and different programs for the welfare of women and children residing in surroundings.
