People aware of the ‘evil designs’ of Centre, says Somireddy
The next venue of the ‘Dharma porata deeksha’, the Telugu Desam Party’s (TDP) flagship protest programme against the Centre’s alleged indifference to its requirements, is Kadapa district. The party has been considering holding the meeting either in Kadapa city or in Proddatur town, but the probability of the latter hosting it appears to be bright.
Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, who is also the district in-charge Minister, said the party would mobilise huge crowd for the meeting so as to let the tremors felt by the Centre. He said the people of the State had clearly understood the ‘evil designs’ of the Centre and hence were solidly behind the State government. Referring to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s recent global visits, he criticised the YSR Congress Party for picking holes in it, even as the international community was recognising his achievements.
Rajya Sabha member C.M. Ramesh announced that he would once again take a team of parliamentarians from the State to Delhi to press for the demand to set up a steel plant in Kadapa.
Later, at a review meeting with agriculture, animal husbandry, housing, rural water supply, DWMA and irrigation departments, he instructed the officials to take up structured and planned schemes to ensure proper supply of water for drinking and irrigation needs in the days to come. Marketing Minister Adinarayana Reddy asked the officials to fill up Gandikota reservoir on priority basis and meet the requirements of the farmers in the vicinity.
MLC and whip Ramasubba Reddy and others were present.
