106 schools outline various activities and training programmes aimed at achieving academic excellence
Schools in the Kalliassery Assembly constituency are set to be on a quality improvement course that envisages focussed initiatives for their uplift by fixing snags and enhancing their strengths.
All the 106 schools in the constituency have submitted their academic master plans that outline various activities and training programmes aimed at locating issues of their backwardness for scripting academic excellence.
This is in compliance with the State government’s directive that all schools in the State prepare academic master plans for improving academic standards by January 30.
“Kalliassery is the first Assembly constituency in the State to have total academic master plan,” said T.V. Rajesh, MLA, representing the constituency.
The constituency education committee had directed all the 106 schools in the constituency to submit their master plans by January first week, he said adding the schools met the deadline.
As a novel initiative in the education sector, the preparation of the master plans was preceded by a training programme at various levels.
In the first phase, a workshop was conducted for heads of the schools and PTA presidents. It was followed by a master plan workshop for all teachers. School-level group meetings were convened for preparing draft plans and panchayat-level education committees met for addition and compilation of the draft plans.
The master plans were finalised at these panchayat-level meetings attended by people’s representatives, faculties of the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), heads of schools and Sarva Siksha Abhiyan functionaries.
The master plans outline activities to be completed in a time-bound manner for improving educational standards of the schools. They record all details including cooperation and support required for the activities, financial assistance, period of completion and estimated cost. The master plans were handed over at a function held at the Madayi Government Boys Higher Secondary School here on Monday.
Kannur University Vice Chancellor Gopinath Ravindran inaugurated the function by receiving the master plans from respective panchayat presidents.
