Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi on Thursday rebutted reports that her office was a bottleneck in implementing welfare schemes.
In her letter to the Prime Minister, Ms. Bedi said the Chief Minister and his Cabinet colleagues had been “persistently propagating” the allegation through the local media that her office was a bottleneck in implementing the welfare schemes.
Her letter was in response to reports in a section of the media about the Chief Minister complaining to the Prime Minister about her style of functioning.
“The office of the Lt. Governor has been discharging its responsibilities conscientiously to ensure financial prudence so that welfare schemes reach only the poor and the needy,” she said in her letter to Mr. Modi.
