The Belagavi District Administration has come to the Aid of a Serving Soldier’s Family that Sought Help against Threats of Social Boycott by Politically Powerful People.
Mallikarjun Kadkol, Father of Jawan Vithal Kadkol of Totagatti in Ramdurg Taluk, Complained to the Government on July 26 that some Politically Powerful People were trying to take over his Land. He Complained that in the Garb of Building an Anganwadi Building, they were Trying to Encroach upon his Land & had Threatened Social Boycott if they did not give it up. He Alleged that Iranna Hiroli, a Gram Panchayat Member, & Ningappa Bhumannanavar, a Lineman, had Threatened to Turn the Village against the Family, if they did not part with the Land.
He had Sought Government Protection against these People in Letters written to Deputy Commissioner S. Ziyaullah & Superintendent of Police Ravikante Gowda. Following this, the Deputy Commissioner & the Superintendent of Police sent a Team of Officials to the Village.
Meanwhile, Ramdurg Tahsildar reported that while the Threat was True, the Social Boycott had not yet been Executed. The officials spoke to Villagers & the Kadkol Family & told them that no Private Land could be taken over without due Process. They also Allayed their Fears of Boycott. “The Police Officers have Warned the Accused of Strict Action if they Executed the Boycott Threat in the Village,” according to a Senior Police Officer.
Meanwhile, Mr. Vithal Kadkol sent another Letter to the Deputy Commissioner last Week Stating that he was Posted in Kashmir & could not Get Enough Leave to Stay in his Village & Fight Possible Encroachment. In a response to the Soldier, Senior Officials, according to sources in the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, told him that there was No Need to Panic & that the Issue had been Resolved.
